The Aasta Hansteen deck has arrived Westcon Yards in Ølen

Thursday morning, the special ship “Dockwise White Marlin” arrived at Westcon Yards in Ølensvåg. The ship, which sailed from South Korea, was loaded with the huge deck for the Aasta Hansteen platform. At Westcon, the deck shall be loaded onto two heavy lifters before being sailed to Digernessundet at Stord.

“Although Westcon has long experience with major operations, this is the first time we are involved in this type of operation. We have prepared us well and look forward to start the work,” said Malvin Eide, Leader of Rig Repair Westcon Yards. At Westcon, the operation is carried out by placing the heavy lifters under the top deck while “Dockwise White Marlin” is lowered. Once the heavy lifters have taken over the weight of the top deck, it is solved from «Dockwise White Marlin» and secured for transport to Stord on frames created specifically for this mission. The operation will take about a week.
